The first region of the Republic of Chile is desert climate and sparsely populated. There has not been a more complete regional geological data and low degree of regionalwork., because of less upfront investment and only sporadic geological work. To furtherstudy the geological background of the copper deposit of the south of the first region inChile, accelerating the implementation of the outcome of the country’s "two marketsand resources", the use of the embodiment result of the project of Evaluation andConstituency of Mineral Resources abroad in2010" Geological Survey and Evaluationof the Copper Resources in the south of the first region of Republic of Chile", on thebasis of past geological mineral data analysis, from the data collected by the GeologicalSurvey of mineral to start with a new mineralization theory, the author studied thegeological features of the region, analyzed the metallogenic conditions and prospectingindicators of the copper deposit in the study area, conducted a comprehensive study ofmetallogenic regularity. This paper is a comprehensive analysis about the spatial distribution characteristicsand the time evolution of the copper deposit,as a result of a comprehensive analysis ofpreviously collected data and a summary of field research. On this basis, the authorcarried out metallogenic prediction, evaluated the copper resource potential of theregion, analyzed the regional metallogenic system, regional metallogenic model andexploration of information and signs, and summarized the metallogenic regularity.Variety of tectonic activity in the study area is strongly developed, fracture is amajor tectonic zone mineralization. The Atacama Faults Zone is an important conditionin the region IOCG copper deposits produced. The Cordillera faults zone is a controlcondition of the occurrence and enrichment porphyry copper deposit. Different fractureexists as the channel of ore-bearing hydrothermal migration and mineralization in place.enlargement of the fracture Interchange become the most favorable ore site.Copper deposits in the study area is divided into two categories: porphyry copperdeposit, IOCG-type (iron oxide-copper-gold deposit), accoeding to the field surveysand existing data analysis. Porphyry copper deposit is the main deposit type in thestudy area. IOCG copper can be divided into: IOCG ore vein, IOCG skarn, IOCGbreccia ore, IOCG ore complex, due to the impact breakage and formation, IOCGdeposits in most of the deposits belong to the IOCG complex types.According to the geochemical characteristics of copper deposits in the study area, copper deposit ore-forming elements in the region into a major multi-island arc andabnormal beaded distribution. Combination of ore-forming elements abnormal wascontrolled mainly by fracture nearly NW, and the deposits engineering controls atpresent. There is a good ore prospects of copper and gold in the study area.
