Harbin is the largest city in middle Songnen plain and is the political, economic andcultural center of Heilongjiang province. With the continuous expansion of citypopulation,energy and environment problems have increasingly become prominent and theexploration, development and utilization of new energy resources have beenimminent.Geothermal resource as a clean energy plays a very important role in promotingeconomic development. It can improve energy structure and reduce dependence on fossilenergy as well as protect the urban ecological environment.This paper is based on the Geothermal Resources Survey Project in Harbin City inorder to find out the prospect of geothermal resources and focus on exploration in thenorthern region of Harbin.Through the systematic collection of borehole data, the use ofgeophysical and geochemical exploration data and the analysis on a large amount of data,we evaluated the using prospect of geothermal resources in Songpu and provided reliablebasis for the next drilling.Songpu is a concave area which is located in the uplift belt of the eastern SongliaoBasin and is called as “a depression in an uplift”. The Songpu district is the most favorableheat storage structure in Harbin area. In the studied area,Quantou formation,Dengloukuformation and Jurassic are the main heat reservoirs.Of them,the Quantou formation is ashallow pore heat reservoir and the Denglouku formation and Jurassic are fracture-poreheat reservoirs. According to the former drilling data, we researched the formationcondition of strata, geological structure and thermal storage in this area. Based on the geological data, the formation mechanism of heat reservoir and the drilling andgeochemical data of oil and gas wells in the area, we optimized Yanjiagang farm, Liminand Dongfa as the target areas for geothermal resource prospecting in Harbin.To study the underground distribution of strata and the development situation of faultsin Quantou and Denglouku formations, we investigated the area by MT and CEMP profileprobing. Through the interpretation of gravitational and magnetic data, we selected thethree gravity anomaly areas called respectively A,B and C and analysed the regionaltectonics to understand the plane distribution of reservoir sand bodies and to provide abasis for the study of the geothermal resources in Harbin. We got the structureinformation,lithology data and target fields by gravity separation technology. Then weanalysed the structure morphology,thermal reservoir quality and its planedistribution.Siltstone reservoirs in area B were the optimal in quality,that in area A weresecond and that in area C were a bit poor. Areas A and C were connected to synclinecatchment and were sand body reservoirs. Area B was mainly fracture aqueduct andfracture and sand body reservoirs.Combining the processing results of gravity data, the three areas named A, B and Care thought to exist certain geothermal resources. A prospect part exists in eachgeothermal area and one well is proposed in each area. The geothermal resources in area Aare the best and that in areas B and C are second. According to the prediction on targetareas, if two wells are drilled in a target area, hot water production is expected to be morethan500m3/d and the temperature of the hot water is above80oC.According to the results of evaluation on potential geothermal resources, theutilization of geothermal resources in Harbin will save6200tons of coal each year with adirect economic benefit of2.1million yuan.
