For a long time, the extensive exploitation and backward mining regulatory approach result in a tremendous waste and low utilization of mineral resources in China. This paper chose Shijinpo gold mine district in Gansu Province as the study area.2011and2012FORMOSAT-2satellite remote sensing data were selected as the data source. A mine exploitation monitoring and Web data management technology process was explored after the use of multidisciplinary technology including RS, GIS, geology and computer. The research results are as follows:(1) In the ENVI5.0software platform, the problem of image distortion had been solved by the calibration of remote sensing data of the study area using FLAASH atmospheric correction module and Orthorectification expansion module. And the sharpness of the image had been improved using Pansharp fusion method on the fusion treatment between raw data panchromatic and three multi-spectral bands.(2) The changes in the region over the previous year had been discovered using the dynamic information monitoring tools and image difference algorithm for same band of the2011and2012images in the ENVI5.0. And the changed parts of the region can guide further mine information extraction.(3) According to the characteristics analysis of geological data and remote sensing images of the study area, the remote sensing interpretation signs of mine exploitation features including mining point, mining area, transit site, solid waste and mine construction were created based on FORMOSAT-2satellite image. The mine information of features of the study area was extracted after visual interpretation and field verification. After that the accuracy analysis and the evaluation of illegal mining conditions were proposed against the monitoring results. (4) The mining remote sensing monitoring results map was produced on the basis of uniformed layer specifications、attribute tables and symbol libraries. And then the map published to the network and cached as Web data source for mine monitoring and management system using ArcGIS Server.(5) According to the management needs of the mining remote sensing monitoring, a spatial database was built using ArcSDE and PostgreSQL and the overall framework of the system and function modules were designed detailedly.(6) WebGIS mining remote sensing monitoring and management system was built using the template which is provided by ArcGIS Server Web ADF, and the implemented methods of representative functions of the system were described in detail.
