Recently, the issue of space debris which is also called the space junk attention from variouscountries in the world. The main measures of space debris is by observation. SLR (SatelliteLaser Ranging)technology is one of the most advanced technology of modern space geodesy.The observation object with laser reflection prism is called cooperative target. The observationobject with no reflection prism,like space debris, called the non-cooperative target in SLRobservation. This paper based on the study of tracking technology of the space debris on SLRobservation. For SLR observation technology is a passive tracking, the core of image trackingtechnology is the target recognition. This paper mainly studies is the target recognized in theimage of non-cooperation target from the SLR image intensifier.This experiment mainly has five parts: image acquisition, image de-noising, imageenhancement, target recognition and target analysis.Part one: image acquisition is achieved based on Image Acquisition Toolbox of MATLAB.Only needs to set the acquisition parameters, cause MATLAB has its own data acquisitionmodule.Part two: image de-noising is the most important part of the study. The experiment has twosamples: big target image and small target image. Open-Close operation, median filtering,average filtering, adaptive filtering and DTC were made on samples to image de-noised. Theeffect is not good. The way of limited-frames image accumulation can realize effect of imagede-noised.Part three: Laplace operator, Sobel operator, Prewitt operator were made on samples toimage enhancement, but the effect is not good. Negative phase transformation can make thevalue of gray difference greater.Part four: threshold segmentation and edge detection were made on samples to targetrecognition. Target Selection by the type of the target can accurate recognition the finally target.Part five: target analysis includes two steps: marking the target and returning thecoordinates of the target.At last, it turns out that this scheme is effective to recognize the satellite target in the image obtained from SLR system. And provide a reference for the future development SLR trackingobservation technology.
