China is one of the countries which are seriously affected by typhoon over the world, overthe years, the southeastern coastal city of China will caused great economic losses and casualtiesbecause of the typhoon. It is significant to underscore the need for scientific effort to examinespatial-temporal features and rules of typhoon in order to prevent disasters and reduce damages. From dangerous hazard-formative factors (mainly refers to the number of typhoon) and thevulnerability of hazard-affected bodies (mainly refers to the social and economic factors such aspopulation, GDP,roads and land use) two aspects, using analytic hierarchy process and theweighted comprehensive evaluation method in typhoon risk assessment study.Based on1980-2010record of typhoon seven wind circle radius, with the support of GIS software, classified the disaster index that affecting our country.Use the1990,2000,2010three stages’population and GDP data,1990,2000,2008three stages’land use data and1990,2000,2010three stages’ roads data as data source, according to the vulnerability of hazard-affected bodiesformula, calculate the single impact factor of vulnerability distribution map and the map of thefour factors’ vulnerability of hazard-affected bodies, and then, combining with the disaster indexdistribution, get three periods of typhoon risk distribution map, finally reveal the risk of Chineseaffected by the typhoon.Study found that, more typhoon landing in China and influence scope is wide,1980-2010,the number of affected are more than145times,4.8times or more per year on average. Shanghai,Zhejiang province, Fujian province, jiangxi province, hainan province, guangdong province, guangxizhuang autonomous region and other regions the number of affected are i between84-145times, about2.8to4.8times per year on average; During1990-2000, the biggest areaaffected by the typhoon, is about5.9million Km2, followed by2000-2010, affected by thetyphoon area is about4.5million Km2; Affected by the typhoon in more than66times the mostlarge area of36000Km2, appeared in the2000-2010, the disaster index between43-66times in2000-2010. The vulnerability indexes of key factors and the whole entities across typhoon affectedregions were calculated in this research. Furthermore, we have also coupled all the informationinto map using GIS analysis and mapping techniques. Try to achieve a mapping of vulnerabilityand risk on is high encouraged practice by United Nations. The cities and regions were listed inthis research based on their vulnerability indexes. Reasons underlie the vulnerabilities totyphoons were also pointed out. Cities likeBeijing, Tianjin,Haerbin, Shengyang,Changchun, qingdao, Changchun, shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, are all with vulnerabilityindexes over0.4. The huang-huai-hai plain The Yangtze river delta of the pearl river delta andthe sichuan basin, because GDP population road land use type of construction land and thecultivated land are relatively dense, vulnerability index of hazard-affected bodies in0.03above,affected by the typhoon vulnerability degree high overall.(3) Regions affected by typhoon were grouped together for the each policy decision basedon the scales of typhoon risk indexes. Detailed region deviation is:A: the highest typhoon risk regions are those with a typhoon risk index over0.2. These areaare mainly locate in the Yangtze River Delta, Zhujiang river Delta and Coastal regions ofZhejiang province and Fujian province.B: regions with a typhoon indexes range from0.12to0.2were regarded as high typhoonrisk regions. They include Shandong peninsula, northwest of Jiangsu province, Anhui province,Central and east part of Henan province, southeast of Hubei province, Jiangxi province, southwest of Zhejiang province, central and west of Fujian province, west Guangdong provinceand southeast of Guangxi province.C: Regions with typhoon hazard indexes range from0.05to0.12were grouped together asmedium typhoon risk regions. They are regions between to the line form Harbin to Kunming upto the second level regions.D: low typhoon risk regions are those typhoon affected areas to the west of line betweenHarbin to Kunming. These regions with typhoon risk indexes less than0.05.
