Taxonomy Study On The Demonax Of China

The genus Demonax Thomson belongs to Clytini of Cerambycinae in Coleoptera. Many species of Demonax are serious forest pests that need to be controlled and quarantined. The economic significance, fauna, research history and condition at home and abroad, especially taxonomy and fauna are detailedly introduced. The main results as follows:1. Taxonomy96species of Demonax in China are systematically arranged and described, and an insect list is built. Type specimens of8species are examined, and collected51pictures of type specimens. Morphological character description of60species are described. Two new record species in China are discovered:i.e. Demonax pseudopsilomerus Gressitt et Rondon,1970and Demonax vilis Holzschuh,1991; male and female genitalia, male8th sternum of male of some species are dissected and described. In addition,70character pictures are drawn, and87pictures of adult morphological characters of81species are shot. Keys for species are given in this thesis.2. The fauna of Demonax in ChinaAccording to the data of geographical distribution, the fauna of95species and subspecies of Demonax in the Global and China are analyzed. The results shows that the species of Demonax in China only distributed in Realm,Oriental Realm and Australian Realm, and there is no distribution in the other realm of the world; There are11species in Palearctic Realm taking up11.57%,91species in Oriental Realm taking up95.79%, and2speices in Australian Realm taking up2.10%; There are82Chinese species in Oriental Realm taking up90.11%, and only4Chinese species in Palearctic Realm taking up36.36%. There are84species only distributed in Oriental Realm in China, there are only5species in Palearctic Realm, so the Oriental species dominate the Palearctic species in Demonax of China, Arranged in richness are Southwest China>South China>Central China>North China>Tibetan. The Demonax in China have14types of distribution in the Zoogeography of China. There are63species distribute only in one region,29species in two region, one species in three regions,2species in four regions.There is one endemic species in Tibetan, three endemic species in North China Region, two endemic species in Central China,25endemic species in South China and32endemic species in Southwest China.The morphological characteristics of Demonax in China are described, Keys to the Genus are given. Optimized the insect fauna information of Demonax and the composition and distribution character are clearer and more definite. Our efforts not only provide more complete taxonomic information for the classification and identification of Demonax in China, but give a theoretical foundation for phylogenetic and evolutionary study.
