Radially polarized beam is a typical kind of cylindrical vector beam. due to its uniquetight focusing properties by a high numerical aperture objective lens and importantapplications in various fields, such as microscopy, lithography, hologram, electronacceleration, proton acceleration, particle trapping, material processing, optical datastorage, high-resolution metrology, super-resolution imaging, plasmonic focusing, andlaser machining.Partially coherent RP beam was introduced in theory deeply and generated inexperiment recently. Partially coherent RP beam has advantage over a linearly polarizedpartially coherent Gaussian beam for reducing turbulence-induced scintillation, which willbe useful in free-space optical communications. My work is to study the propagation of apartially coherent RP beam through an astigmatic optical system, and investigate the effectof astigmatism of the optical system on the focusing properties of a partially coherent RPbeam. This paper can be divided into two main parts.Firstly, a comprehensive overview of coherent optics research background and history,including the partially coherent beam of coherent and polarization vectors unity columnvector partially coherent beam transmission and modulation, to produce experimental andtheoretical study of partially coherent radially polarized light. Briefly introduces the theoryof laser optics need to use my work, including the ABCD transmission matrix,cross-spectral density, Collins formula and so on.Secondly, the research focus in detail the nature of the partially coherent radiallypolarized beam that I did. Using Collins integral formula, I deduced the various elementsof cross spectral density matrix of partially coherent radially polarized beam through anastigmatic optical system. Then the numerical simulation of the statistical properties of thespecific intensity focused partially coherent radially polarized beam of energy, coherence,polarization degree. I found initial coherent beam width and the astigmatic coefficient of the optical system are two important factors affecting the focusing properties of partiallycoherent radial polarized beam. Therefore, we can select a proper astigmatism coefficientof the astigmatic optical system and initial coherent width to modulate the statisticalproperties of partially coherent radially polarized beam, which will be very useful to beamshaping and particle trap.
