Futuyu-Xiaoligou copper and iron deposit is located in the east edge of theLaiyuan rock on Laiyuan County in Hebei Province. The mineralization of the depositis mainly Cu and Fe, associated Ag, Bi or other useful components. Based on fieldgeological survey, description of hand specimens, observations from microscope andthe EPMA analyses, the main study includes the research of petrography, mineralogyand materials of the granite, skarn and ore samples.Research shows that there are many kinds of minerals in Futuyu-Xiaoligoudeposit. The major metallic minerals are chalcopyrite, specularite and magnetite,followed by pyrite, galena, sphalerite, bismuthinite, bismuth, cobaltite, gustavite,malachite and Azurite etc. The nonmetallic minerals are mainly garnet, diopside,epidote, chlorite, calcite and quartz etc.According to the intersection of mineral vein and mineral production, thediagenesis and mineralization process of the study area can be divided into threemetallogenic stages, which are skarn stage, quartz-sulfideand stage and supergenestage.The garnet belongs to andradite-grossular series, which is mainly andradite. Thepyroxene belongs to diopside-hedenbergite series, which is mainly diopside. Based onthe BSE images, garnet and pyroxene grow out together, and the difference of thegrain size is relatively large. It is suggested that the environment of the deposit is lowacid and oxydic under the condition of high oxygen fugacity. Meanwhile, the south ofthe deposit is close to porphyry deposit of Cu and Mo. Thus, it is inferred that thedeposit mined may be located in the upper on the study, indicates that the deep is agreat potential for the prospecting. The study on the main chemical components of theskarn mineral from different parts of the deposit shows that, from west to east, thecontent of garnet and pyroxene is relatively enriched in Fe, and garnets’ grains arecoarse to fine, and the andradite content in garnets tends to increase. It follows that inthe eastern, Cu reserves may be more abundant in the study area; in the meantime, itprobably has good Fe metallogenic potential in the eastern of the deposit.The sulfides in deposit, such as chalcopyrite, pyrite and others, are generallydeficient sulfur, and the Co/Ni value in pyrite is greater than1. Therefore, it showsthat the genesis of the deposit is related to hydrotherm. Bismuthinite, bismuth,cobaltite, gustavite is found for the first time. It shows that the ore-formingtemperature of the deposit might be in middle-high temperature.
