As the main habitation for the rural people, village takes the basic place for them to improve their standard of living. Its function contains the demographic change of villagers, agricultural industry, etc. From the point of view in the landscape science, village landscape and people are closely bound up. As the earliest settlement in the world, village had undergone evolution through a long time. Meanwhile village landscape changed too. Due to the difference of the natural resources, economic condition and cultural customs, the village landscape pattern possess regional disparity.Based on the principle of the landscape ecology, the indicator system comprises landscape pattern index, which is limited by the practical operability and information accuracy. Using the Patch Analyst5.0component in the ArcGIS10.0the landscape pattern index of the research area is calculated at different times. In the towns application level, their contrast analysis accomplish.In the villages application level, using the K-average clustering method and discriminates classification, the index will be classified into different group on the behalf of the landscape ecological significance, in order to analyst the village landscape pattern and its evolution of all the villages in the view of landscape ecological significance of the index.On the foundation of analysis of the village landscape pattern, classify the villages into different groups based on the status of its development level of the villages, then analyst the evolution of the groups.The article takes Lishan, Huaihe and Xinjie towns as an example to analyze the evolvement rules of village landscape pattern by the research of its change rate from1997to2012:(1) As to all the3towns, the village landscape area increased differently, the numbers of landscape patches decreased unequally, the landscape connectivity improved and showed the trend of aggregations. However, the patch shape became more complicated, and edge shape turn out to be more broken. All the villages possess various village landscape patterns, the evolvement rules vary as well. So optimization must be undergone according to the character of the region and the period.(2) From1997to2012, the village landscape in the3towns had developed quickly. The development of village landscape pattern in Lishan and Xinjie towns took important place in improvement of village landscape pattern in all the3towns. And the development of village landscape pattern in Huaihe town was left behind of the whole development level.
