As of21st Century, the world is facing more serious challenge from growingterrorism. As external cladding of buildings, the anti-explosion performance of glassfa ade is directly related to the safety of the whole building. Being expensive andmagnificent, glass fa ade for high-level public buildings are always chosen as terrorist’starget. Considering the risk from terrorist attack, Architects from all over the world raiseanti-explosion requirements for fa ade. However, basically speaking, there are no technicalspecifications or test standards regarding the anti-explosion design of glass fa ade. Fromthis view, this article will discuss anti-explosion design of glass fa ade based on the theoryof protection against blast wave caused by explosion.Firstly introduces the basic theory of explosion shock wave, including the definition, the explosion explosive air shock wave formation and propagation as well as the air shockwave effects on the target. Conventional weapons ground air blast wave desirable no boosttime according to the simplified triangular impulse. Then introduces the theory structure under explosion load and solution, emphaticallyintroduces the dynamic analysis of explosion load, the vibration equation under explosionloading has no damping, damping, free vibration, forced vibration. Finally, based on the “non-linear finite element” theory, by using ANSYS/LS-DYNAprogram, the spreading principle of explosive wave in infinite free air area and the curtainwall’s dynamic reaction under explosion load is simulated. According to the conclusion ofthe research, the simulation of explosion load can match well with the spread principlegiven by testing, which indicates a reasonable data simulation can replace high costlyexplosion test. There is a large lag between the moment of maximum explosion load andthat of maximum movement. After the explosion load terminates, movement at each pointreaches the maximum and then recovers, which is a relatively slow process. Based on themono-free module and energy method, this article determines the design method foranti-explosion of glass curtain wall and then discusses the application of such method. For solution of realistic issues, this article provides basis to curtain wall engineers. InConclusion of this article, the research is summarized. Advice and anticipation for thework in future is given.
