In this paper, a comprehensive test platform was developed for the3-dimensional simulation and flow visualization of injection profile logging research. Through a specially designed transparent configuration, the equipment is capable of offering a good visual observation of the complex flow inside the near-real structure of the injection profile. A series of experiments with solid/liquid carriers were conducted successfully on the platform. Some examinations and evaluations were carried out on the behaviors of radiotracers, including their physical properties such as density and diameter, etc., and a new formulation for fast calculation of the tracking capabilities was also proposed for the quick application in injection wells. A new method of generating liquid tracer was developed, with which the density of the tracer can be adjusted to suit different needs of logging.Furthermore, a new type of matrix probe sensor was designed and developed in order to meet the demand of multiphase flow research in production profile logging. It was shown that the device is capable of mapping the distribution of each phase in two-phase pipe flow and gives a real-time display of the distribution by means of tomography, under different flow patterns. An exploration of measuring the phase movement was also tested by using a set of twin-matrix probe system, the feasibility of detecting the phase velocity and more potentials of the device are also discussed.
