The combustion catalyst is an important part of the solid propellant offunctional materials, it has effective regulation of the combustion properties.Atpresent, the main combustion catalyst was the organic metal salts and carbonmaterials. By reaction made some metal salts which have catalytic effect ondouble-base propellant combustion introduce into the fullerene ball, formatted offullerene-glycine metal salts.The products may be have better effective than bothmental salts and carbon materials, it will be provide a new burning rate catalystsor additives which have good comprehensive performance.Fullerene-glycine lead/copper/calcium/strontium/barium/zinc salts have beenpreparated by using fullerene, glycine and nitrate mental salts. The structure ofthe products were identified by FT-IR, TG, element analysis and atomicabsorption spectrophotometry.By single factor method, the effects of ratios ofraw materials, temperature and reaction time on the reaction were studied. Theoptimum synthetic technology conditions with the lead content of41.4%inproduct fullerene-glycine lead salt are:5:1of molar ratio of lead nitrate andfullerene-glycine,25℃of reaction temperature,2.5h of reaction time. Theresults of our investigation show that the optimal synthetic condition with thecopper ingredient of17.8%in product fullerene-glycine copper salt is:5:1ofmolar ratio of copper nitrate and fullerene-glycine,35℃of reaction temperature,and2.0h of reaction time.By DTA, SEM and other characterization methods to study the basicperformance of fullerene-glycine lead/copper salts and the other four basicproperties such as thermal stability, and morphology. The results showed that thefullerene glycine metal salts have good thermal stability. Although themodification of fullerene by metal salts and glycine a certain extent changed thefullerene on micro-rod morphology, it is still composed of lamellar.By vacuumstability experiments and burning rate test, the fullerenes glycine lead salt notonly has good compatibility with the component of propellant, but also has goodsynergistic catalytic effect, which can help to enhance the burning rate ofdouble-based propellants, but poor the plateau region.
