Membrane wall gasifier is one of the main developmental directions in entrained-flow coal gasification technology. The slag deposition and flow were studied in a lab-scale membrane wall entrained-flow gasifier via endoscope. The results showed that when the temperature was above Tcv,the slag in the surface was in molten state. Char particles that reached the reactor wall were mainly captured by the molten slag layer. The slag velocity was influenced by the slag surface temperature, the higher the temperature the greater the speed. The slag velocity was about0.0026-0.0030m/s under the experimental condition.Fluent and matlab were used to study temperature distribution in the gasifiers. Based on the simulation results and experimental data, the thickness of the slag was calculated by using Seggiani model. The results showed that the temperature was higher in the middle of the gasifiers. The slag velocity changed through the axial direction of the gasifier, first bigger then smaller. The bigger of gasifier’s height to diameter ratio, the worse mobility of the slag in the outlet.Entrained-flow gasifier was employed to study the catalytic gasification behavior of Beisu coal, the results demonstrated that the main factor that affects catalytic gasification was the mixing effects of catalyst and coal powder, when catalyst and coal powder were dry-mixed, the catalytic activity was not obvious.
