Along with the development of the world economy and industrial technology, energy consumption is growing fast. As an important role in the fossil fuel, moreattention from almost every country is paid on the coal utilization. Thus, a newtechnology must be researched in high efficiency utilization of coal and environ-mental protection. As a result, coal gasification has developed fast in the past fewyears.According to the short life of burner and burning loss of refractory lining, thispaper puts forward a new pulverized coal cyclone gasifier. In this gasifier, pulver-ized coal carried by the gas flow is sprayed into the gasifier from the top nozzle, and the pure oxygen is sprayed into the gasifier with different tangential angle fromthe lateral nozzles which are arranged at the side wall of the gasifier. The lateralnozzles may arranged by one layer or multilayer. Meanwhile, the steam is forcedinto the gasifier from the circular passage surrounding the top nozzle. Based on thiskind of structure, a strong swirl flow is formed close to the inner wall of thegasifier.Based on FLUENT, this paper researches the influence law of flow character-istics of gas solid two phase, gas component and temperature distribution in thisgasifier, affected by changing the angle and position of the lateral nozzles. Then, anoptimization gasifier is proposed due to its excellent performance in all aspects. The result showed that the change of turbulent intensity, stagnation zone areaand gas solid two phase mixing degree all determined by the angle and position ofthe lateral nozzles. Quantity of reflux of particles in the top recirculation z one di-rectly affects the carbon conversion. Average temperature and outlet temperature ofthe gasifier are determined by gasification reduction reaction. The results indicatethat the cyclone gasification technology can be applied to the coal gasification field.
