As the Sodium Silicate Solution can react with matters of acid and salt to produceinsoluble silicate gel or silicate compounds, while with the quality of good wallhanging ability, penetration and flexibility that the silicate gel with, it can penetrateand thickened in the crack of coal, so the gel has been widely applied for fireprevention and extinguishing in the mines. The ammonia release, a strong corrosionability and the overprice are the main features for the common gel. Therefore, theexploration of the ammonia-free gel of environmental-friendly and of less cost will beof a significant practical meaning for improving the fireproof ability, lessening theaccidents loss for the coal mines and guaranteeing the health for the mine workers.Based on the Colloid Chemistry and Lewis Acid-Base Theory of the Electron, anenvironmental-friendly FA Coagulant was developed in the first place in the paper.With the change in percentage between the Coagulant and Sodium Silicate and theadjustment of temperature, the gelling time was controlled. The correlation betweenthe3factors and gelling time was researched with Cross Analysis and a Mathematical-Physical Model were established. The Quantitative Analysis on the penetration,strength and thermal stability for the gel helps to learn the effects of materials indifferent percentage on various characteristics of the gel. With the STA449C ModelThermal Analyzer, the water solidification ability and the thermal characteristics wereresearched, and with the Contrast Analysis of Ignition Activation Energy, the impactof new type of gel on the Huaibei Gas Coal, Yima Long Flame Coal and thebituminous-resistance performance in Pingdingshan were analyzed. Then, with theadding of different types of modified materials, their effect on the gel strength andthermal stability was researched. And the Orthogonal Analysis helps for learning theprimary and secondary relation between the FA Coagulant, Sodium Silicate andBentonite on the gelling properties, for the ratio optimization of gel materials and forthe analysis on the gelling mechanism of modified materials. Then, with the researchbackground of the25110working face of Yuejin Coal Mine of Yi Ma Coaling GroupCo., Ltd, the site industrial experiments were carried out and had got a good effect forfire prevention and extinguishing.
