K4Nb6O17is a stable semiconductor for phorocatalysis. It can be improved thephotocatalytic activity of K4Nb6O17for the decomposition of water into hydrogen underlight irradiation by interlayer intercalation methods. The K4Nb6O17powders aresynthesized via a high temperature solid phase reaction, and the optimal synthesiscondition is calcination for2h under1000℃. Grain-like particles can be obtained with arapid temperature rising rate, while rod-like particles are obtained with a slow rate.CdS intercalated K4Nb6O17photocatalysts are synthesized under microwaveirradiation, which keeps a higher crystallinity than the same catalyst synthesized viatraditional methods and sharply shortens the intercalation time. The amounts of hydrogenproduced of the CdS intercalated K4Nb6O17photocatalysts synthesized with microwaveirradiation under UV light and visible light irradiation are respectively265.95mmol/(g cat)and5.68mmol/(g cat) for3h.The absorption edge of K4Nb6O17is shifted to the visible light region after theintercalation of PbS. The amounts of hydrogen produced of the PbS intercalatedK4Nb6O17photocatalysts under UV light and visible light irradiation are123.94mmol/(gcat) and0.66mmol/(g cat) for3h, which are both higher than that of K4Nb6O17The K4Nb6O17powders with different doping contents of Cu2+irons are synthesizedvia a high temperature solid phase reaction. The absorption edge of K4Nb6O17was shiftedto the visible light region after the dope of Cu2+irons. When the doping quantity isCu:Nb=0.05(mol quantity), the catalysts shows the highest activity under visible light andthe amounts of hydrogen produced is3.23mmol/(g cat) for3h. After then the CdSintercalated K4Nb6O17doped with Cu2+is prepared, whose photocatalytic activity isimproved further, and the amounts of hydrogen produced under UV light and visible lightirradiation are279.83mmol/(g cat) and7.11mmol/(g cat) for3h respectively.
