Kinetics and mechanism of oxidation of1-methoxy-2-propanol,1-ethoxy-2-propanol, triethylene glycol, tetraethylene glycol, pentaerythritol and inositol by Ag (Ⅲ) in alkaline medium were studied by spectrophotometry in this paper.Through the experimentation, we found that the main existed form of DTA was the deprotonated complex [Ag(H4TeO6)2]-in alkaline medium, and we proposed that the deprotonated complex Ag (H3TeO6), as the activation center, formed the intermediate with the reductant. The change of kobs with different [reductant],[H4TeO62-],[OH-] and ionic strength were studied, the determining-step rate constants at different temperatures and the activation parameters at298.2K were evaluated. We inferred the reasonable mechanism through the experimentation. Conversely, the supposed mechanism could favorably explain the reaction results.Form the macroscopical experimentation phenomena, we will provide certain theoretical foundation for the reaction route design of the organic synthesis, quantitative analysis of analytical chemistry and mechanism chemistry.
