Pour inhibitor is always added in the crude oil in order to reduce the viscosity by changing the structure of wax crystal particle. In that case we can transport crude oil in low temperature or in usual temperature. This paper gives us a summary and a study of the mechanism in pour inhibitor.Specially it select4oil well to make research in rheology and paraffin content in YanChang oil field. It also do experiment in rheology and paraffin content based on the theoretical analysis. In the end,we know that several factors can affect the pour inhibitor’s power:the structure of the wax and paraffin,the heat treatment temperature;oil’s cooling rate; The mixing situation of pour point inhibitor and shear effect.Secondly, base on experiments we select HMD-Olas the best pour point inhibitor, and identified the most optimum concentration which is30ppm,and the optimum temperature is60℃.In that case the pour point and the viscosity of the crude oil were reduced a lot. After that, we take thermal history and shear history into consideration based on the power of pour inhibitor. The experiments shows that the pour inhibitor can suffer less effect form the repeated heating temperature and the high shearing temperature. However,the pour inhibitor can lose its effect when the repeated heating temperature and the high shearing temperature located in the wax crystallization peak temperature range.In the end, we carried out shutdown and restart calculation, especially,we did process optimization in that case. The shutdown and restart calculation reflect that the pour inhibitor can extent the shutdown time. Finally,we take the advantage and weakness of the transporting method into consideration, identified that only combined the pour inhibitor and the heat treatment and the first furnace pump can we gain the optimum effect of the transportation.
