Two kinds of substituted heteropoly acids with Dawson structure H7[Ga(H2O)P2W17O61]·18H2O (P2W17Ga) and H7[In(H2O)P2W17O61]·23H2O (P2W17In), have been synthesized by the degradation-ion exchange-freezing method. The products were characterized by chemical analysis, IR, UV, XRD and TG-DTA. Besides, two kinds of composite materials PVP/P2W17In and PVP/SiO2/P2W17In were prepared by substituted heteropoly acid with Dawson structure H7[In(H2O)P2W17O61]·23H2O (P2W17In), polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), respectively. The composite materials were characterized by IR. The proton conductivity of the products was measured at18℃and70%relative humidity (RH). According to the experimental results, the proton conduction mechanism of the products was given.
