As one of three basic projects of mine, tailing pond plays an important role in production of mine. Many tailing dams in our country are built in seismic region and the dam break of tailing dams caused by the seismic is a great potential safety hazard of mine production. On the basis of the situation, in the paper, the ore material of one tailing pond in Zhangjiakou City is studied by indoor test, and the location of saturation line is determined by3-D seepage numerical simulation. Based on the secondary development of ABAQUS, the static and dynamic stability of the tailing dam is researched.In the study of the dynamic property test of saturated tailing sand, the dynamic deformation and dynamic strength property of saturated tailing sand under the dynamic load by the dynamic triaxial research under the condition of saturation undrained is especially analyzed. According to the study result, the developing and changing rule of the dynamic pore water pressure of saturated tailing sand under the dynamic load is probed into.In order to ascertain the location of saturation line of final embankment elevation under different conditons of seepage drainages and different operating situations,3-D seepage numerical simulation of the tailing pond is conducted, on basis of which, the nonlinear static analysis and dynamic stability analysis of the tailing pond are conducted by ABAQUS. According to the nonlinear static analysis, the changing rule of the stress field and displacement field under the normal situation and flood situation while considering seepage drainage is obtained. By the dynamic stability analysis, the dynamic shear stress and acceleration of the dam body are calculated, the changing rule of dynamic pore pressure of tailing sand under the seismic load is determined and the liquefied area of the tailing dam is obtained.
