In recent years, the potato deep processing has developed rapidly in China. Because of the irreplaceable role of the other starch in some industries, potato starch and its modified starch is more widely used in many fields with its unique value-added content and superiority. As a kind of high safety emulsion thickener, the Octenyl Succinic Anhydride modified starch gradually emerges in the food additive industry and the market foreground of the product is vast.Currently, only a few companies can produce Octenyl Succinic Anhydride modified starch in domestic, therefore the products mainly rely on imports. So there is an urgent need to increase research, development and production efforts to exploit series products and occpy the market. Although researches on the processing technology and properties of Octenyl Succinic Anhydride modified starch have gain certain achievements, there is no plant design reported aiming at its industrial production. Hence, to provide the reference for the establishment of the factories, this dissertation was mainly to design a plant of yearly producing30000tons of Octenyl Succinic Anhydride modified potato starch.The design was based on the conditions of the local geography, resources, relevant policies. Firstly, in accordance with the annual output capacity of30000tons, I set up the product scheme and worked out several biochemical and physicochemical indicators for the raw materials and products. Secondly, I calculated the material, water, electricity and steam balance of this plant in a year on the basis of designed production process and60tons of Octenyl Succinic Anhydride modified potato starch per shift. Meanwhile, the equipments selection and their numbers were determined according to the amount of materail of each process and followed the "high yield and low consumption" principle. Equipment selection determines the overall layout of the workshop. In order to make the factory keeping production sales smoothly on track, this dissertation designed the auxiliary department from production, power and assisted-living facilities three major aspects. And then the whole plant staffing was completed. Finally, the technical and economic analysis of the program was carried out from the investment, cost estimates, breakeven and other aspects. The results showed that:The project investment in fixed assets was41.18million yuan, the annual profit was20.98million yuan, the payback period was1.97years, the operation safety rate was up to63.86%. This project will create favorable economic and social benefits and can be directedly put into production.On the basis of accomplishing the design specification, I also drew the process flow, the layout of the workshop and the maps of whole layout of the plant.
