Swine manure wastewater is a kind of high concentrated organic wastewater, containingfeces, urine, farming irrigation water, etc., which is rich in nitrogen and phosphorus. In recentyears, due to market risk and meager profit, the swine manure was discharged by large-scalefarm wastewater without proper treatment only to reduce cost. This brought big pressure toenvironment. Sequencing batch reactors (SBR) is a process of activated sludge, offeringappropriate surroundings for microorganism metabolism by providing intermittent aeration. Itcomes as a stable reaction with good activated sludge, low processing cost but high efficiencyof treatment with strong ability of phosphorus and nitrogen removal, easy operation andmaintenance management, and covers small area. Therefore study of SBR treatment of highconcentration swine wastewater is practically significant for the protection of the waterenvironment and ecological environment, curb intensified point source pollution, and thus forhuman health. This paper studied the influence rule of several factors on high concentration of swinewastewater treatment in SBR reactor. Factors included sludge type, pH, aeration amount,carbon-nitrogen ratio, sludge emission quantity, water dilution and HRT treatment. The studywas divided into start-up and stabilization stage. Start-up stage included on sludge type andpH, and stabilization stage focused on factor of the aeration amount, the carbon-nitrogen ratio, the sludge emission quantity, water dilution and HRT. This aims were to provide a theoreticalbasis for the SBR treatment of high concentration organic wastewater. The research wassupported by the following main conclusions:At the start-up stage:1. The different activated sludge inoculated to SBR was from the aerobic pool ofwastewater treatment plant Yangling and Xi’an. According to the MLSS, SV30, SVI andsludge form, activated sludge from Xi’an was chosen as an experimental sludge. The amountof MLSS, SV30, SVI was3780mg/L,95.5%,252.65mL/g, respectively. The sludge hasgood sedimental characteristics, right size of sludge particulate, high activity of zoogloea, and a large number of microorganism with reasonable biological structure. Inoculated with thistype of activated sludge, the SBR reactor disposed better water with the average removal rateof phosphorus, CODcr and Kjeldahl was79.86%,92.30%,79.08%, respectively.2. When the pH was adjusted from acidity to8, the effluent of phosphorus, CODcr andKjeldahl content showed a downward trend. Their average removal rate was68.40%,78.15%,96.32%, respectively. Ammonia nitrogen removal rate was99.50%. This regulation showed adistinct improvement in water quality. At the stabilization stage:1. The results of aeration amount effect on SBR reactor processing showed that the bestaeration amount was375L/min m~3. In this condition, the effluent phosphorus, CODcr andKjeldahl content is7.31mg/L,322mg/L,6.81mg/L, respectively, with the removal rate up to77.27%,96.37%,99.38%, respectively.2. Influent ratio of carbon to nitrogen on SBR reactor processing results showed that thebest C/N was5:1. In this condition, SBR had a good disposing effect on whole. The removalrate of phosphorus, CODcr and Kjeldahl was stable as77.16%,93.89%,98.32%, respectively.3. Studied on the effect of the sludge emission quantity to SBR reactor showed that thebest sludge emission quantity was100mL, with the removal rate of phosphorus up to84.84%,and the average removal rate of CODcr and Kjeldahl was92.06%and98.64%, respectively.4. Decrease dilution ratio and increase HRT, to cultivate activated sludge with treatmentability of high concentration organic swine wastewater (with average P/CODcr/TKN up to9161.24mg/L,37.55mg/L,1502.77mg/L), in order to get better treatment effect in SBRreactor. When dilution ratio was2and HRT was8d, the effluent content of P/CODcr/TKNdropped to490.11mg/L,5.35mg/L,17.84mg/L, with removal rate of84.57%,92.31%,98.77%, respectively. This result proved that the activated sludge was of high-activity.
