Nowadays, in order to improve the frog life,railway puts forward higher strength,hardness, wear-resistant properties of the frog heart. Due to mechanical wear andenvironmental factors, Some problems were found such as abrasion, peeling on frogs inlong-term usage conditions. In order to optimize process and improve work efficiency ofreparing the failure bainitic frogs, weldabilities and performances of self-made elecrodes andJD937elecrodes used in actual production are contrasted.In this study, the heart tracks were repaired through multi-layer welding by usingself-made elecrodes and JD937elecrodes. The best welding parameters were determinedthrough two electrodes smoke, splash, De-slag welding and surfacing layer microstructureanalysis and hardness tests. Strength and toughness of welding joint were studied by thetensile test, toughness of the deposited metal was reserched by the impact test, electrodeoverall performances are analysised by the contact fatigue wear test of surfacing layers.Component and the phase composition of surfacing layer were analysised by EDS and X-raydiffraction (XRD).The result indicates that self-made electrodes have high welding performance. Withoutpreheating and post-heat treatment, granular bainite which has the properties of high hardnessand good toughness can be gained in surfacing layer. Contrasting with JD937elecrode,self-made electrodes have higher strength and hardness, have lower plasticity and toughness.
