The gradually decreasing of original mercury resource and the strict environmentprotection laws, as well as a large number of mercury-containing wastes make it animportant way to recycle mercury from mercury-containing wastes. However, thereare few researches on the the regenerated mercury industry either at home or aboard,it is necessary to investigate its smelting process condition and distribution ofcontaminant producing nodes of each smelting process flow, to analyse thecharacteristics of pollutants’ emission, and to estimate the influence of pollutantsleasing from the industry to the environment. In the research, we have investigated four enterprises that were engaging inmercury’s regenerating, acquired their smelting process condition have been acquired, and analysed the distribution of contaminant producing nodes of each smeltingprocess flow. The investigation of these enterprises indicated that they used wastemercury catalyst as the main raw material to smelt mercury by fire technology. In theprocess of production, the numbers of contaminant producing nodes were sameamong these enterprises. The generated pollution included waste gas containingmercury, and waste residue with mercury. Among the four enterprises, we chose Denterprise with the largest processing capacity as the typical enterprise and conductedmeasuring in its main processing procedure and its surroundings. Then, weestablished the list of regenerated mercury smelting industry and mass balance ofmercury. According to the balance of the mercury, the recovery of mercuryresearched98.73%. The loss mercury mainly contained solid waste with mercury, waste gas with mercury and fugitive emission. According to the monitoring results offugitive emission and the surroundings, the pollution of the D enterprise had a greaterinfluence on the surrounding environmentIn order to confirm the source intensity of mercury from reservoir room in Denterprise, we chose CALPUFF and AEMROD models. By means of comparingvalue of simulation and monitoring value, we chose a better model from the twomodels to apply to apportion source of D enterprise. After confirming all the emission sources from D enterprise, we compared thesimulated results of CALPUFF and AERMOD models in farther distance, and chose the better model to estimate the influence of pollutants leasing from the industry to theenvironment. Finally, the prevention and cure, supervision and management of the project havebeen put forward through analyzing the smelting process condition and thecharacteristics of mercury pollution.
