N-Ethylethylenediamine is an important organic chemical intermediate, for example, it is the basic raw material for highly effective, broad spectrum, and low toxicity antibacterials piperacillin, cefoperazone, and cefbuperazone, and it is thus the focus of considerable research.A novel, effective, and green synthesis of N-ethylethylenediamine was studied in this thesis. Namely, the reaction of ethanol with ethylenediamine to generate N-Ethylethylenediamine was carried out in tubular fixed bed reactor catalyzed by metal supported catalysts, and the target product was obtained after separation. A transition metal catalyst (active ingredients:Cu24-26%, Ni6-7%) was prepared and shown to have high activity and selectivity in this reaction. Then the influences of the reaction temperature, pressure, raw material molar ratio, and space velocity were studied, and the optimum reaction conditions for this catalyst were defined as follows: molar ratio ethylenediamine to ethanol3:1, temperature160℃, pressure1.0Mpa, space velocity0.15hr-1, hydrogen flow rate100mL/min. Under this optimum conditions, the selectivity and yield of N-ethylethylenediamine reached83.7%and82.3%, respectively. In the study of the fine distillation of the product, cyclohexane was used as water separating agent, and batchwise fine distillation was then performed to obtain N-ethylethylenediamine (with boiling point of125-130℃) in greater than99%purity. According to the experimental results and the physicochemical properties of the system, a separation flow scheme was designed. The results of this thesis will provide good references for pilot runs and bulk production of the product.
