In recent years, the research of mental-organic coordination compounds with intriguingvariety of architectural features and potential applications in magestism, gas adsorption,catalysis, chiral recognition and separation, luminescence and nonlinear optical, biology, andso on, has becoming a focus of the coordination chemistry and crystal engineering. In thispaper, we have been hydrothermally synthesized ten complexes by using bisimidazole ligands(2,2′-biimidazole,1,1′-(1,4-butyl)biimidazole) mached with different dicarboxylic ligands tocoordinate with ZnII, CdIIand CoII. We characterized these complexes by IR, elementalanalyses and X-ray single crystal diffraction, and we also studied the thermal stabilities andfluorescence properties of them.1. We have prepared seven new complexes by using2,2′-biimidazole mached withdifferent dicarboxylic ligands to coordinate with ZnII, CdIIunder the hydrothermal condition.[CdH2biim(Himdc)]n(1)[ZnH2biim(2,3-pzdc)]n(2)[CdH2biim(2,3-pzdc)]n(3)[ZnH2biim(HO-BDC)(H2O)3]n(4)[CdH2biim(HO-BDC)(H2O)3]n(5)[Cd(ip-OH)(H2biim)(H2O)][Cd(ip-OH)(H2biim)(H2O)3]·8(H2O)(6)[CdH2biim(HO-BDC)]n(7)Complex1shows1D zigzag chain structuer. Complexes2and3are isostructuraldisplaying2D layer structures. Isostructural complexes4and5crystallize in P1chiral spaceshowing0D structure. In complex6, co-existing0D and1D motifs are connected bysupramolecular forces to form3D structure. Complex7is3D structure. Meanwhile, westudied the thermal stabilities of complexes1-6and the fluorescence properties of complexes1-7.2. Three complexes have been hydrothermally synthesized by using1,1′-(1,4-butyl)biimidazole as well as5-hydroxylisophthalic acid coordinated with ZnII, CoIItransition metal ions, respectively.[Co(HO-BDC)(bbi)]n(8)[Co(HO-BDC)(bbi)]2·H2O (9)[Zn(HO-BDC)(bbi)]n(10)Complex8is2D layer structure. Complex9manifests a deeply corrugated2D layerbased on (4,4) motifs. Complex10demonstrates2Dâ†'3D parallel interpenetration of highlyundulating networks based on (4,4) motifs. The thermal stabilities and fluorescence properties of8-10have been investigated.
