With the rapid development of steel industry, the pollution of the environment andresources waste caused by large discharge and accumulation of tailings arouse more and moreattention. The researchers at home and abroad focus on the making full use of tailingsresources, reducing the waste of mineral resources as far as possible, improving the quality ofthe environment and realizing high additional value application of tailings resource. This paper is funded by the National Natural Science Foundation (No.51274120).MgO-Al2O3-SiO2based glass ceramic were prepared with iron tailings, magnesite tailings, bauxite and titania slag as raw materials by sintering method. We use differential scanningcalorimetry (DSC) to determine the nucleation, crystallization temperature, use scanningelectron microscopy (SEM) to observe surface morphology and microstructure of thesamples, and use X ray diffraction (XRD) to test mineral composition of the samples. This paper mainly studied the effect of variety and the amount of alkali metal oxide onMgO-Al2O3-SiO2system tailings glass ceramics microstructure and dielectric properties.Research showed that using Li2O to replace Na2O as the fusing agent of ceramics glass canreduce the nucleation and crystallization temperature of the foundation glass, promoted theprecipitation of the cordierite crystal effectively and improved the microcrystalline glassdielectric properties. When the test frequency is1KHz, the dielectric constant of cordierite-based tailings ceramics glass is58.52, dielectric loss is0.5276, the electrical resistivity is5.764Ă—105m.The conclusion concluded from the experimental results are as follows, that use fluxLi2O to replace Na2O, can enhance the dielectric properties of MgO-Al2O3-SiO2systemtailings glass ceramics effectively, and lays a theoretical foundation for the application ofcordierite tailings glass ceramics in dielectric materials fields.
