Ti-based metal oxide anodes (i.e. dimensional stable anode, DSA) withexcellent electrocatalytic activity and electrochemical stabillity have becomeideal auxiliary anodes in Chlor-alkali industry, hydrometallurgy, organic synthesis,cathodic protection, and industrial plating, etc. Under the promise of the electrodecatalytic activity and service life, Ti/TiO2-Ta2O5/IrO2with Titanium-Tantalum Oxideinterlayer were prepared by the impregnation-thermal decomposition method.Morphology, surface composition and crystal structure were characterized by meansof SEM and XRD, the cyclic voltammetry, polarization curve, chronoamperometryand accelerated life were tested to evaluate the electrochemical properties anddurability of the oxide anode; therefore, the preparation technics was studied andoptium technics parameters were obtained.The amount of TiN on Ti/TiO2-Ta2O5/IrO2anodes was studied and16mg TiN inthe interlayer was confirmed, the prepared Ti/TiO2-Ta2O5/IrO2anodes had the bestelectrocatalytic activity and accelerated lifetime.The interlayer temperature of the Ti/TiO2-Ta2O5/IrO2anode was investigated.Between350450℃, the accelerated life of Ti/TiO2-Ta2O5/IrO2anode decreased withthe increase of temperature.The coating temperature on the properties of Ti/TiO2-Ta2O5/IrO2anode wasstudied. Between400520℃, the anodes had the different catalytic activity andservice life, the highest catalytic activity was obtained at400℃; otherwise, thehighest service life was obtained at500℃. Considering the comprehensiveperformance, the latter was chosen.The loads of the coating on the Ti/TiO2-Ta2O5/IrO2anode were compared.When the coating time was varied from3to10, the surface morphology of anodes changed greatly. The accelerated life nearly doubled from250h when the coatingtimes increased from3to10; however, the accelerated life only increased60h whenthe coating times increased from7to10.Finally, we prepared the Ti/TiO2-Ta2O5/IrO2anodes using the above optiumresults, and tried them in the ECO of64kw Huaneng Haimen power plant No.4unitin seawater flue gas desulfurization device, good results were obtained indeed.
