This were reported the contents as follows:1. With2-acetyl pyridine as raw materials, a polypyridine ligand,4’-phenyl-2,2’:6’,2"-terpyridine ligand (L) was synthesized according to a literature method. Reactions between4’-phenyl-terpyridine (L) and several metal salts, Zn(m-OCOPhOH)2, Zn(p-OCOPhOH)2, Co(CH3COO)2, Ni(CH3COO)2, Cd(CF3SO3)2, Zn(CF3SO3)2led to the formation of the complexes [Zn(m-OCOPhOH)2L](1),[Zn(p-OCOPhOH)2L](CH3OH)(2),[Co(OCHO)2L (H2O)](H2O)(3),[Ni(OCHO)2L(H2O)](H2O)(4),[CdL2](CF3SO3)2(5) and [ZnL2](CF3SO3)2(H2O)2(6). By using evaporation, diffusion and hydrothermal methods, the single crystals of these complexes were obtained and their structures were determined and analysized by X-ray diffraction. The complexes (1) and (2) are five-coordinated with square pyramidal configuration; whereas complexes (3),(4),(5) and (6) are six-coordinated with octahedral geometry.Complexes (1) and (2) were characterized by elemenytal,1H NMR, I3C NMR, IR and TG-DTA analysis. Their photoluminescent properties in solid and solution states in DMF, DMSO and methanol were also studied.2. A macrocyclic ligand,1,12,15-teracetonitrile-1,12,15-3-aza-3,4:9,10- dibenzo-5,8-dioxcycloheptadecane (Lo), was synthesized by using salicylalde-hyde as raw material according to a literature method. The Lo reacts with CuBr2, ZnSO4·7H2O, Ni(C7H7SO3)2and C7H7SO3H to obtain complexes [CuL0]Br2(H2O)1.5(7),[ZnL0(H2O)3]SO4(H20)3(8),[NiL0(H2O)2(CH3OH)](H2O)(C7H7SO3)2(9) and a supramolecular compound [L0(C7H7SO3H)2](H2O)(10), respectively. Their structures were determined by X-ray diffraction. Complex (7) is four-coordinated mode with triangular pyramidal configuration. Complexes (8) and (9) are six-coordinated with octahedral geometry. Supramolecular complex (10) is three-dimensional reticular structure and its structure is constructed via intermolecular and intramolecular hydrogen bonds.3. The conclusions of this study were made and the development of the research work of the future was summarized. The work provides good candidates for further studies in the fields of medicine, life science, material science and environmental science and deserves to be extended to other macrocyclic complexes on attempting to study coordination effects and to establish relationships.
