Oil depot was an important place where oil was stored, received and send out. It would play animportant role for guiding the operation and equipment selection in oil depot, and be also significantfor ensuring oil depot safety, that hazardous area rank should be correctly classified. This article aimed at establishing a gas diffusion model for oil tank in that various meteorologicalfactors should be considered comprehensively through the research on characteristics and influencefactors of gas diffusion for oil tank, thereby identifying oil gas diffusion range under differentmeteorological conditions and providing a quantitative basis for explosion dangerous region divisionfor oil tank. In the article, the numerical simulation method have been adopted to study gas diffusionregulation for oil tank under different meteorological conditions. Meanwhile, the geometry model andnumerical model for gas diffusion of oil tank have been established, and the weather conditions’ effecton the oil gas diffusion range have been discussed. The fuel property, release rate, and somemeteorological factors such as wind velocity, humidity, temperature, surface roughness and so on beingconsidered comprehensively, oil risk area of a specific tank in shanghai have been dividedquantitatively respectively in unloading operation and static storage occasions. All these provided aquantitative basis for explosion dangerous region division for oil tank and avoided a difference thatmay be often lead by using only the standard recommended values and ignoring the effects ofmeteorological factors in hazardous area partition for oil depot in China currently. The numericalsimulation results in the article have been testified to be closer to the measured values than themeasured values through the empirical formula, that verified the accuracy of numerical simulationmethod.
