Thermoelectric materials, which can realize conversion between the electrical energyand the heat energy directly, have been widely used in aerospace, defense industry,medical treatment, electronic technology and many other fields. Besides developing newmaterials by using new method, the measurement of thermoelectric properties of materialsis also very important. Thermoelectric properties include Seebeck coefficient, resistivityand thermal conductivity. The Seebeck coefficient and resistivity can be measure at thesame time, while thermal conductivity need to measured separately. Currently, there aresome problems with the traditional measurement method for Seebeck coefficient andelectrical resistivity, therefore it is of significance to study new measurement method andinstrument for thermoelectric properties.After introduction to the basic principle of Seebeck coefficient measurement of theHGTE-II thermoelectric measurement system, and a new method was put forward tomeasure Seebeck coefficient of thermoelectric materials. The method was used to modifythe HGTE–II thermoelectric measurement system, and the Seebeck coefficient of astandard constantan sample was measured and it verified the effectiveness of the proposedmethod.This paper introduce the basic principle of resistivity test of the HGTE-II typethermoelectric parameters test system, put forword a new method to test Seebeckcoefficient of thermoelectric materials. The method is used for the HGTE-II typethermoelectric parameters testing system, using the method to test the Seebeck coefficientof constantan samples verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.According to the requirements for automatic measurement, the test circuit ofelectrical resistivity was redesigned, a programmable dc power, and a program-controlledswitch group were added and a wider range of resistivity test was achieved. The NamicroII software of HGTE-II, which was originally written with VB6.0forautomation measurement. Based on a modern programming language c#, the NamicroIIsoftware system was rebuilt. After modification to the software and hardware, the HGTE-II thermoelectric measurement system was rebuilt and verified. In comparison with theprevious model, the modified measurement system is highly automated, easier to operatewith friendly interface.,...
