The multiphase or multicomponent flows in porous media exist widely in energy, en-vironment process such as enhanced oil recovery, geologic sequestration of carbon dioxideand so on. Although such problems have been studied penetratingly, people still cannot getadequate knowledge on it due to the complexities of such problem itself. The conventionalCFD method will meet a varity of difficulties for dealing with such problem, including track-ing and capturing the interfaces among phases or components, the processing of complexgeometric boundaries and other. The lattice Boltzmann method which is proposed in recentyears throw light on such problems for its microscopic nature and mesoscopic characteristic. On the background of Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS), This paper mainlystudies the following two topics, the multiphase flow of near-critical CO2in porous mediaand the multicomponent "viscous fingering" phenomenon which widely exists in secondaryand tertiary oil recovery, using the lattice Boltzmann method.By adopting an accurate CO2equation of state, we studied the flow behaviour of near-critical two-phase floes of CO2in porous media, including two case, one single channel andthe real porous media. In both cases, we take the influence of the solid wall into account. We studied the "viscous fingering" phenomenon in Hele-Shaw model. As averagevelcity and pressure appears in the simulating code, the simulation can be regarded as onthe Representive Element Volumes Scale.Over all, the multiphase and multicomponent flow in porous media is studied using thelattice Boltzmann method, which provide a basis understanding for future studies.
