As a transportation facility, oil pipeline in ocean resulting in damage in the process oflong-term use, such as crack, corrosion, hole and so on, is affected by medium. Failurepipeline not only leads to halting production of offshore oilfield, but also interference withthe oil supply. Therefore it is necessary to detect the pipeline at regular intervals to preventaccidents. So pipeline inspection robot is applied in this field. This paper has carried outdetection sensor design of robot based on the principle of magnetic flux leakage detection.In view of the basic structure of the submarine detector, the document put forwarddesign requirements of its sensor array. According to the installation space of the sensorarray and diameter range of pipe, the whole mechanical structure is designed, and thewhole installation process is planned. Analyzing measurements method about the length,width, depth of the defect and pipe cross-sectional area, and then conducting overallprogram and experiment to arrange the magnetic element, ultimately the scheme is that thelength, width measurement of the defect is completed by paperback induction coil, thedepth of defect is achieved by paperback Hall, and the cross-sectional area is measured byvertical Hall and magnetic armature. The number and amplitude of the signal, the signal isdetected based on the induction coil Paperback defect get the edge information, wherebythe determination of the defect length and width. The paperback coil generating signalcontaining the edge information which expresses in the number and amplitude cancalculate the length and width of detect. The signal’s amplitude of the paperback Hall isapplied to estimate depth of the classified defect. The information of the cross-sectionalarea is obtained based on the relationship of the main magnetic flux and cross-sectionalarea via the lap mounted Hall.Since small cavity space of pipeline, the document researched production process andthe installation form of detection sensor, which solved the requirements of detectionaccuracy and consistency of the multi-type probe.
