The secondary cooling water distribution is an important part in continuous castingcooling process. The cross section shape of beam blank is irregular. It will easily causethe uneven of secondary cooling water distribution in the flange tip and fillet. That willaffect heat dissipation and quality of casting blank. To improve the quality, it is necessaryto research the secondary cooling water distribution of the section of beam blank. The dissertation is based on a continuous casting beam blank production line of750mm×450mm×120mm. It simulates the solidification process of continuous castingapplied with mathematical simulation, and analyses the influence of the ratio of water, degree of superheat and drawing speed. Shell thickness variation of beam blank is alsoresearched in this dissertation. By extracting the direction of the cross section of slabsurface temperature, the nonuniformity and regulation of temperature distribution isstudied. Based on the temperature of beam blank, the secondary cooling waterdistribution curves are optimized by software ANSYS Design Opt. The optimizationconsiders the factors of metallurgical criterion and the uniformity of temperaturedistribution from the section direction. It concludes the fitting curves of secondarycooling water density in different location of secondary cooling zone. The fitting curvescan be regarded as reference curves of secondary cooling water distribution from thesection direction of beam blank. In order to verify the necessity of water distribution control from the sectiondirection, the dissertation also compares the temperature field and stress field of the slabunder the condition of two kinds of water before and after optimization. The results showthat the optimized temperature distribution of slab temperature field and the surfacestress rate are much better than that before optimization. And the quality of slab isobviously improved.
