Hydrotalcite and their metal oxide were prepared as the catalyst of glycolysis PET wastewith ethylene glycol as the solvent, Screened a strong alkaline catalyst. Catalysts werecharacterized by X-RD, IR, in order to analyze structural characteristics and properties andUV absorption method was performed to measure their basic. The catalysts are used inglycolysis of PET. The glycolysis products were qualitative and quantitative analysis,Conversion of PET and the yield of BHET was calculated; the effects of the amount ofcatalyst, reaction temperature and reaction time on the conversion rate of PET wereinvestigated. By experimental data analysis, it was revealed that the relationships betweencatalytic activity of hydrotalcite and its metal oxides and the alkaline of catalysts.The reaserch indicate that different types of hydrotalcites and its metal oxides havevarious catalytic activity of glycolysis of PET waste, there was a linear reationship betweentheir catalytic activity and alkaline.Optimum conditions are the following:198℃, Zn/A1(3:1)was added the amount ofthe metal oxide catalystis0.5%PET, PET/EG is1/5, the reaction time of1h. Theexperimental results showed that calcined Zn/Al hydrotalcite-like have the best catalyticactvity, the conversion of PET could be reached to about80%. Hydrotalcite and metal oxideitself is a kind of basic solid catalyst, which easily was separated from glycolysis reaction.
