Northern Shanxi Jurassic coalfield widely exists in shallow seam, has become the mainmethod for the safe and efficient mining of thick coal seam of the large mining height fullymechanized. Shows that many years of practice, the shallow coal seam working face stratabehaviors strongly and the relation of "support and surrounding rock"understanding notunified, surrounding rock control mainly rely on traditional theory and experience. In15201fully mechanized coal face Zhang Jia-mao as the prototype, are high formine pressure similar experimental simulation study on4m,5m,6m and7m, the shallow coalseam with large mining overburden structure and law of movement. Based on fieldobservation and simulation experiments,from the aspects of support working resistance,dynamic load coefficient, roof weighting step distance and structure of overlying strataanalysis of shallow coal seam and large mining height working face pressure characteristics and influencing factors. Based on the shallow buried coal seam working face with largemining height "old top-direct roof–(Support+coal wall)–floor" support system, putforward the system of "support and surrounding rock" relationship stiffness model, given anew stiffness formula of the Support and coal wall. According to "support and surroundingrock"system stiffness model, given the shallow coal seam and large mining height workingface of the support working state, combined with the structure of overlying strata model, tobuild "hanging rock beam" mechanical model and "step rock beam" mechanical model,giveout the calculation formulas of working resistance of support.Taking Yu Shu-wan coal mine20102working face with large mining height and ZhangJia-mao coal mine15201working face as an example, calculation cycle to pressure control ofminimum support working resistance of roof required, the calculated results with themeasured basic similar, validated the reliability of the formula.
