Screw pump is the major oil extraction equipment nowadays due to itsadvantages like low-cost, small floor space, convenient to carry, simple manufacturingprocess. As the weakness of screw pump, stator rubber attracts many attentions andobtains investigation for a long time. It was found in the process of investigation thatnanocomposite, combinating two simple materials, could obviously promote theproperties like gas barrier, heat resistance, aging resistant.Organic montmorilonite (OMMT) is a stratiform silicate material with nanoscaleand the excellent application of polymer intercalation modification. The performancesuch as gas barrier, heat resistance, aging resistant of polymer will be obviouslypromoted after compounding with OMMT. By expanding the spacing of the layer inOMMT with hyperbranched polymer, we get the modified OMMT/HNBR with bettermechanical properties, heat resistance and aging-resistance.The ratio of hyperbranched polymer (Boltorn H20, H30and H40) and OMMTwas investigated to characterize the modification effect of hyperbranched polymers toOMMT. It was found that the interlamellar spacing expanding effect was best whenthe ratio of hyperbranched polymer and OMMT was1:1.The hyperbranched polymer PEHO was synthesized and used to expand theinterlamellar spacing of OMMT by “in situ polymerization” and physical blending.The results of modification showed that the lamellar spacing expanding effect and theperformance in mechanical properties, heat resistance and aging-resistance werebetter by using in situ polymerization.The influence of1.44p OMMT and1.24tl OMMT to the mechanical property,aging-resistance and heat resistance of nanocomposite. Taking all the conditions intoaccount, it was found that the combination property of1.44p OMMT/HNBRnanocomposite modified by H20was the best. The tensile strength was15.51MPa, thetearing strength was65.32MPa, the tensile strain was663%. After aging in oil thedecrease in tensile strength was15.2%, the tearing strength was15.4%, the tensilestrain was7.3%.
