At present, ultrasonic phased array for nondestructive testing technology, as oneof the research hotspots in the field of nondestructive testing, due to its manyobvious advantages, has been more and more widely applied in the aviation, nuclearenergy, machinery, electric power, petrochemical, railway,civil engineering andother fields. Especially due to the needs of detection, it is very common forultrasound generated by ultrasonic probe to pass through the double layer or evenmultilayer media to reach inspection objects, so relevant studys about radiationfields in multi-media within ultrasonic phased array are urgent needed. At the sametime, shear wave detection are much more required, but the previous study mostlyare focus on single medium or even though expand to double media, the calculationmodels have some critical drawbacks. Moreover, the radiation beam fieldcalculation act as one of the essential issues encountered in ultrasonic phased arraytest technology and its accuracy directly relate to the precision of the test,therefore, it has always been the research priorities of relevant scholars. Based onthese facts, the main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, in the double media cases, reflection and refraction coefficients ofultrasound under different working conditions, including solid-solid interface,liquid-solid interface, two solids in "smooth" and solid-air interface can be, inducedusing the knowledge of elastic mechanics and solved by the MATLAB software.Secondly, Rayleigh-Sommerfeld model and Multi-Gaussian beam model areintroduced. Calculation accuracy, computing speed and model application scope oftwo popular models are compared, and eventually the relatively suitablemodel-Multi-Gaussian Beam Model are choosed as the calculation model.Thirdly,by using Multi-Gaussian beam model,the radiation fields of shear wavein the water-steel interface at near-length and far-length areas are simulated,radiation calculation results at different depths are obtained. Acoustic fields of theoptimized probe are simulated, the calculation results of different parameters arerecommended. The radiation fields of shear wave in the acrylic-steel interface arestudied. Considering the limited size of medium, the radiation fields of doublemedia are discussed. Initially explore the radiation field in the triplex media.
