Polyamide6microspheres not only have characteristics of microspheres in sizeand structural,but also have excellent performance of polyamide with highmechanical strength, high softening point, wear-resistant, self-lubricating,chemical-resistant, self-extinguishing, less toxicity, etc. With extensive applicationprospect, it has been widely used in powder coatings, fillers, binders, adhesives,bio-pharmaceutical, cosmetics and other fields.Currently, the main method of preparation for polyamide microspheres ismechanical pulverization and solvent precipitation. However, these preparationmethods are too cumbersome and the particles are easy to adhere with each other. Inthis article, we directly synthesized the high performance polyamide6with solutionpolymerization.A series of characterization by using FTIR,SEM,DSC,WAXD andBET were carried out to investigate the surface morphology and supermolecularstructures of PA6microspheres.The results of our studies were listed as following:1By changing the ways of preparation, we can get polyamide microspheres withdifferent particle size and morphology. The results showed that the high specificsurface area with a narrow particle size distribution of the polyamide microsphereswill be got in appropriate catalyst system with proper polymerization temperature.2The molecular weight of the polyamide microspheres prepared via solutionpolymerization is generally higher than monomer-cast nylon. Large molecular weightcauses the stronger interaction between long chains result in a lower degree ofcrystallinity.3Different preparation conditions have a greater impact on the thermalproperties of the microspheres. And regulating some experimental parameters canimprove the thermal stability of the polyamide microspheres.4This was the first time that the PA6/TPU microspheres were prepared via thesolution polymerization. FTIR and MI analysis confirmed that the TPU-co-PA6as an internal lubricant have improved the processing performance.
