This paper regards the female traditional fashionof Jiangnan region as researchobjects, carries out the in-depth analysis and research on the cultural connotation andforms, such as dress collocation, color application etc, of Jiangnan women traditionalfashion that have the geographical characteristics, elaborates the cultural connotationand function hidden in the women’s fashion, summarizes and mines their fusible pointswith the modern fashion culture, aims at heavily drawing on the cultural deposits forthe design of modern fashion and adding the new design idea for the modern fashiondesign. After this paper summarizes and induces the form and cultural connotation oftraditional women clothes of Jiangnan Region, it puts forward the feasibility opinionon the collocation and color application of modern garment design, namely: the folkfashion design should adapt to regional life, the color bionic application way shouldreflect the harmonious relations between human and environment, the extension andspecific performance of ideographic symbol implied among the fashion colors in themodern fashion etc. As the part of China folk fashion, Jiangnan women’s traditionalfashion’s decoration technology is the local women’s characteristics technologyconsistently deposited and formed under the conditions of the production way and lifestyle of “rice production culture”, which is not only the wisdom crystallization of theworking women, but also the portrait and performance of local folk custom culture andmakes its essence further developed and inherited. This paper also carries out theclassification and summarization on the art value of the traditional fashion of Jiangnanregional women. Firstly, the author thinks that, when Jiangnan women’s hair cover,wearing flowers on the head and other garment style, they impose on human body in2 different ways, the positive and assistant forms or the negative and inhibitory forms, soas to form the lively, free and unrestrained dynamic beauty and the quiet and elegantstatic beauty. Secondly, as far as the color matching and joint is concerned, theyingeniously and reasonably make use of the joint color, which is not only practical andeconomical, but also makes the clothes color more perfect and have more artisticcharm. Thirdly, When they are combined with the external material factors, such asarchitectural style, geographical environment etc, although the single forms of theseclothes are very simple from the angle of artistic value, they generate the richcombined aesthetic after combined and superimposed and reflect the mutual echoes ofinternalization and externalization of Jiangnan women and the aesthetic tendency ofcontaining much but revealing little. Finally, the most critical is that we can see thedesign concept of extremely high artistic value that “forms create beauty” from theform combination and decoration. At the same time, their clothes and dressing up canalso fully reflect the “beautiful” and “displaying” aesthetic characteristics and artisticvalue.
