As one of the most important conducting polymers, polyaniline (PANI) has attractedmuch attention because of its excellent properties, such as ease of synthesis, environmental stability, and unique acid/base doping/dedoping behavior and reversibleoxidation/reduction chemistry. In recent years, oligoanilines have been studied as modelcompounds for PANI, not only for the similar electroactivity as PANI, but also for theirgood solubility and well-defined structure. In this thesis, a series of electroactive diblock copolymers containing tetraaniline,tetraaniline-b-methoxypolyethylene glycols (TANI-mPEGs (Mn, PEG=2000,1000,750)),were successfully synthesized by coupling TANI and mPEGs with succinic anhydride.Their electroactive properties, crystallization behavior, intramolecular/intermolecularinteraction and self-assembly behaviors of diblock copolymers on the surface of carbonnanotube (CNT) were investigated.UV-vis results indicated that their intrinsic electroactivety was maintained, and thecopolymer could also been doped by HCl in DMF. DSC and POM results showed thatonly TANI-mPEG2000still exhibited crystallization behavior, while its crystallinitydecreased severely. The glass transition temperatures decreased with the increasing lengthof mPEG segment. Spacial confinement and chain confinement were also found forTANI/mPEG blends and TANI-mPEG block copolymers. FT-IR spectra demonstrated theexistence of hydrogen bond between TANI and mPEG. When CNTs were sonicated withmPEO-PANI in NMP, TANI segments were attached to the surface of CNTs, andcore-shell structures with CNT as a core and diblock copolymer as a shell were obtained, which could be well dispersed in NMP and DMF. The similar structures were obtained viaselective solvent method. Only if the thickness of shell was thick enough, CNTs shoulddisperse well in water.
