In the presence of acetone as co-solvent, Jatropha curcas oil, cottonseed oil orpistacia chinensis oil was used for biodiesel production catalyzed by heterogeneouscatalyst. In the presence of acetone, Jatropha curcas oil and methanol was catalyzedby Eggshell-derived catalyst for biodiesel production. The FAME yield of93%was obtained from jatropha oil at1:1(acetone/oil) weight ratio,9:1(methanol/oil)molar ratio,7wt%catalyst,2h reaction time at65℃. The catalyst reusability wasinvestigated and the results showed that catalyst can keep its high activity after4circles.In the presence of acetone, KI/CaO was used as catalyst for biodieselproduction. Under the conditions tested, the yield of95.04%was obtained at0.5mmol g-1loading2h for catalyst,800℃for calclination2h,1:1(acetone/oil)weight ratio,9:1(methanol/oil) molar ratio,5wt%catalyst,25℃for100min.The catalysts were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM),Comparison of area analyzer (BET) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). This technologywas also applied in cottonseed oil or pistacia chinensis oil. The effect of wateramount, as well as the recycling performances of the eggshell-derived catalyst, wasalso investigated.In this study, biodiesel production in the presence of co-solvent (acetone) byusing sodium silicate was investigated, results showed as following: the yield ofmore than90%was obtained at sodium silicate calcined at400℃for2h,0.25:1(acetone/oil) weight ratio,9:1(methanol/oil) molar ratio,3wt%catalyst,25℃, for80min. The catalysts were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR)spectroscopyand X-ray diffraction (XRD). The effect of water amount, as well asthe recycling performances of the eggshell-derived catalyst, was also investigated.To expand the application of this optimum process conditions, This technology wasalso applied in cottonseed oil or pistacia chinensis oil, which will boost thedevelopment of agriculture in China.
