| Al-Mg-Si alloy (6xxx series aluminum alloys), a medium and high strength aluminum alloy whichcan be strengthened by heat treatment, are widely used for structural applications in construction, transportation and sports industries owing to their good process performance, corrosion resistance, flexibility, weldability and no stress corrosion cracking tendency. In this paper6082alloy forging Alalloy (typical Al-Mg-Si alloy) is studied to analyze the effect of homogenization, solution and agingtreatment on performance and the microstructure of forging aluminum alloys. The main findings fromthe present study are as follows:(1)The precipitates of6082aluminum alloys, distributed in a continuous reticular pattern, arebone-shaped eutectic morphology. The grain size is large and the microstructure is not homogeneous, and the electro polishing surface of6082alloy contains large amounts of undissolved phase, whichindicates that the second phase of as-cast aluminum alloy fails to fuse in6082alloy.(2)After580℃×6h-homogenization heat treatment by water cooling, the Mg2Si phase andsimple substance Si are complete solution, and β-Al (MnFe)Si transforms to a-Al (MnFe)Si completely.Equilibrium a phase grows and spheroidizes, and the reticular structure is changed into chain structureand the precipitate phase is granular shaped. The6082alloy the homogenization temperature is570℃-580℃and the time is6H and the cooling method is water cooling.(3)when the solution time is40min and80min under the temperature of540℃, themicrostructure of the6082alloy shows that the strength phase doesn’t dissolve completely and thereare coarse residue and θ phase precipitates is not much after aging, which lead to low strength andhigh plasticity. But when the solution time is120min under the temperature of540℃, themicrostructure of6082alloy after solution shows that the strength phase Mg2Si dissolves and afteraging fine particles are precipitated, which can help refine the microstructure and increase the hardnessand strength, and the properties of sample parts are good.(4)The effect of aging time on mechanical properties of6082alloy is related to theconditions of solution heat treatment. The strength of6082alloy is lower in incompletelysolution, and as the aging time increases, the strength increases and the plasticitydecreases. The microstructure of6082alloy is homogeneous and the mechanical properties are good when the solution heat treatment temperature is540℃and time is2h,and the aging temperature is167℃and time is15h. |
