Currently the technology of beam blank continuous casting is a new technologycompares with the conventional billet production technology. the unique cross-sectionalshape leads to the difference of dilatancy distortion in the secondary cooling zone betweenthe beam blank and conventional billet, which makes it much more difficult to calculatethe slab drawing force, and during the straightening stage, cross-sectional shape will alsoresult in over deformation of flange while the roll press on beam blank, in order to studythe slab drawing force as well as beam blank deformation, This paper carried out thefollowing work:Established a stress-strain model of the blank, and theoretically calculated thestraightening force and torque based on cross-sectional shape of the beam blank.The features of beam blank solidified shell are carefully analyzed, the method ofcalculating slab drawing force is partly draw lessons from rectangular billet, thedeformation of solidified shell is considered to consist two parts: elastic deformation andcreep deformation, while calculating the resistance during flattening the solidified shell,plate model has been used instead of beam model.To avoid deformation concentrating in some area, this paper uses continuousstraightening method, rather than original three-point unbending method, in order toachieve this goal, recalculating the straightening curve is necessary and based on which,roll configuration has been obtained.In this paper, the author uses the finite element software to simulate the blank runningfrom the crystallizer to the moment of getting into the straightening stage, with thismethod, temperature field can be obtained, and then take this as initial condition tosimulate the beam blank continuous straightening progress, the stress,strain,and thedeformation of the beam blank are shown in this paper, detailed analyses about thesephenomena are also carried out.
