Textile relics is the treasure of our forefathers, so the protection of the textile relics has veryimportant practical significance. The research on this subject has many different research Angle. Andthis paper tries to adopt a new Angle to study the protection and the identification of textile relics, namely from the perspective of natural dyes. The protection of textile relics should be divided into twosteps. First of all, ensure the authenticity of the relics, then protect the textile relics for save and displayin a very long period. Natural dyes is the main component of textile relics. So the identification of thenatural dyes and synthetic dyes can be a way to identify textile relics. At the same time, the changes ofthe color of the dye is associated with the structure of dyes, and the trend can offer some suggestionsfor the protection. This article includes three parts: the first part is the basic concepts involved in all directions andthe current situation of research, including dyestuff classification, identification and protection of relics; The second part study the relics protection from the perspective of dye, which is different from currentresearch about the reinforcement of relics. It enrich the ways of identification and protection about therelics. This article analysis the dyes on textile relics by means of non-destructive Raman spectra, andidentify the composition of dyes and mordant. On this basis, this article simulated dyeing, and thenstudy the dyes on the dyeing of fabrics with the reasonable method, including identification of naturaldyes and synthetic dyes, and further analysis the changes of color and the internal structure of dye inthe process of storage. The third part of the paper summarizes and analyzes the results of theexperiment, proposed some suggestions of the identification and protection of l relics. With the development of new test technique, such as Raman spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescencespectrum and so on, the use of nondestructive testing methods makes the non-destructive study oftextile relics is feasible. This article use Raman spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence spectrum to detect thedyes and mordant of the textile relics, and use thin layer chromatography (TLC) and Ramanspectroscopy to identify the natural dyes, then analyze the structure of the dye before and after discolorwith liquid phase method. Based on these studies, and ultimately to the following conclusions:1) Fromthe perspective of dye to identify textile relics is feasible.2) The discolor of textile relics is along withthe changes in structure of the dyes.3) The perspective of natural dyes can be used as a main directionof protection of textile relics.
