One dimensional ZnO nanostructures have attracted great research interesting in recent years due to its outstanding photoelectric properties. This work mainly focuses on the fabrication of aluminum-doped zinc oxide (AZO) and one-dimensional vertical orientated ZnO nano-array thin films, and studies the controllable growth mechanism. Finally, the organic and inorganic hybrid solar cells are assembled and the photovoltaic properties are studied.1. Aluminum-doped zinc oxide films (AZO) were prepared on quartz substrates using pulsed laser deposition method. The impact of the substrate temperature and the partial pressure of oxygen on the structure, optical properties and electrical performance of AZO films are studied.2. ZnO nanorods array film with high degree of orientation and high aspect ratio were obtained using hydrothermal synthesis method based on AZO, quartz and silicon substrates. The effects of substrate types, the seed layer formation and the hydrothermal temperature on the controllable growth of the self-assembled ZnO nanorod films were systematically studied.3. The formation mechanism of nano-rods were investigated and discussed based on the nucleation and growth theory for nano-crystals, as well as the theories of surface energy and shape control chemistry. In addition, the function of each ingredient in the precursor solution was analyzed.4. Finally, the organic and inorganic hybrid solar cells were assembled using ZnO nanorod films as anode, and the corresponding photovoltaic properties were tested.
