Porous carbon materials have been pay attention because of their high specific surfacearea, large pore volume, stable chemical property, good conductivity, high mechanicalstrength and low cost for their potential applications in gas adsorption and separation, catalysis, energy storage, transformation and the electric double layer capacitor. Since theindustrial revolution, fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas as the basis of the energysecurity for economic development are associated with various environmental problems, acid gas emissions such as SO2and CO2has been the pollution the environmental. Largeamounts of SO2, CO2present in the air has been caused much environmental problem suchas acid rain, global warming, destruction of ecosystems, and pose a threat to human andanimal life and health. There are many methods for removing SO2, CO2, includingadsorption method, because of its simple equipment, less investment, low energyconsumption, less secondary pollution becomes one of the most promising degassingmethod.Based on the modification of porous carbon materials as adsorbent, we choosephenolic resins as carbon source, urea, melamine, ionic liquid nitrogenous substances asnitrogen source for introducing the basic site into the surface of porous carbon materials, which improve their ability to adsorption acidity gas. At the same time we also use thesolid-solid grinding method for modification the surface of porous material, usingas-prepared order mesoporous carbon spheres as a host, inorganic salt magnesium nitrateas a guest precursor, because of abundant surface hydroxyl group on the as-preparedcarbon could enhance the host-guest interaction, it can allow high dispersion of the MgOand prevent their free motion or migration under carbonization process. For theapplication test, the MgO/carbon composites sample show a superior property by CO2adsorption.By using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen isothermal adsorption (BET), Fourier infraredspectroscopy (FT-TR), CO2-temperature programmed desorption (CO2-TPD) detection. The results show that the alkaline substances successfully grafted onto the surface of thecarbon materials, alkaline of these materials has been enhanced gradually with increasingalkaline precursor substances, so these carbon materials show a good adsorption properties.
