Rare earth ions doped active optical fiber can be used in many areas, such as laser raging、the preparation of fiber amplifier、military affais、medical attendance etc. Because of the very good sensitization of Yb3+ions, prepared Yb3+/Er3+co-doped active glass fiber system to obtain higher output power amplifiers.This paper briefly introduces the ytterbium and erbium ions level structure、 luminous mechanism and so on. And chose the phosphate glass as the matrix for it’s highly rare earth ion solubility. On the basis of experiment, through the optimization of glass formula, final with high refractive index of phosphate glass so as active optical fiber fiber core material. On this basis, prepared different concentration ytterbium/erbium co-doped phosphate glasses. test glass samples of various performances, Using software such as Origin and Excel drawing and calculated co-doped phosphate glass sample’s σabs、∑abs、A(S-1)、σemi、τrad、△λeff etc. Through the comprehensive analysis, determine the Er3+doped concentration is10.5982×10-19ions/cm3, Er3+/Yb3+ratio for1:6the glass sample for the best performance, can be used as fiber core material for active optical fiber.Will number A14formula as active optical fiber’ core material, design a double cladding fiber each size respectively:fiber core diameter of6.5μm、in cladding diameter for65μm、out sourcing layer diameter of120μm、NAx纤芯is0.18, N包层is0.45, and drawn out flexibility good glass fiber.
