As a common structure and function of metal material of copper,because of itsexcellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, good ductility and corrosionresistance, widely used in machinery, electronics and aerospace fields.Fortunately,copper matrix composites inherited the advantages of copper alloy, its tensile strength,abrasion wear resistance, strength and other properties on the basis of the copper alloyhas been greatly improved, one of the focus has metal matrix composites field.In this paper,the research progress of graphite reinforced magnesium matrixcomposites at home and abroad was reviwed,the problems of fabricating graphitereinforced magnesium matrix composites were analyzed,graphite/copper matrixcomposites were fabricated by powder metallurgy in this paper. Prepared by powdermetallurgy graphite/copper matrix composites, and to study in a vacuum hot pressingsintering process of mixing in the collective distribution of the graphite and compositematerials, prepared by powder metallurgy graphite/copper matrix composites mostgood process parameters.The results show that successfully prepared using powder metallurgy methodhaving a low cost, and a uniform distribution of graphite, alloy composition can beoptimized design of the graphite/copper composite material: graphite surface of theelectroless copper plating is to improve the wettability of graphite matrix metal key.The mixing process of the graphite dispersed uniformly in the matrix metal have agreat impact, the ball to powder ratio of2:1under the conditions of the optimummixing time is4h; the optimized graphite/copper matrix composite vacuum hot presssintering process875°C for1h.On the friction and wear testing of composite materials: tin bronze, equal to0.5vol%graphite/copper matrix composites, and0.8vol%graphite/copper matrixcomposites in the same load of40N,the trend of the coefficient of friction is firstlarge decline reached its lowest value and then gradually increasing trend, threematerials have friction coefficient minimum value,but increased ability to withstandlarge loads and high wear rate with the increase of the graphite content.Add graphite bronze material is more than not added graphite bronze material under a large loadcapacity, the graphite surface copper plating makes composite materials in large loadsto reduce the coefficient of friction, increase its wear resistance.
