Styrene/maleic anhydride copolymer (SMA) is a kind of polymer materials with excellent properties. In the past the study of SMA have mainly focused on synthesis and application of SMA and blending modification, etl.But the anhydride functional group was studied a little before. In this thesis, SMA was prepared by precipitation polymerization under the best reaction conditions with BPO as initiator. And then we synthesis the photosensitive prepolymer styrene/maleic anhydride grafting hydroxyethyl acrylate. The factors that affect the esterification rate of the products are discussed, such as solvent, catalyst, reaction temperature, action time, concentration of reactants. The best reaction conditions are determined, the solvent is tetrahydrofuran, the catalyst is triethylamine, the reaction time is12h, and the concentration of reactants is15%. The structures was proved by IR, the thermal properties of synthesized product were characterized with DSC, and TG The results indicated that the synthesized product is more stable. The structures of grafting prepolymers after uv curing characrerized with IR showed that the carbon carbon double bond disappeared, presumably crosslinking; the thermal properties of synthesized product were characterized with DSC, and TG indicated that the decomposition temperature increased30-50℃, inference for the crosslinking degree is increase, makes the molecular chain rigidity.
